3 WAYS TO PROTECT YOUR VISION

Did you know that the very act of looking at your phone or computer screen right now could be harming your eyes? Don’t put down the phone yet! We’re sharing three ways to protect your vision from harmful blue light.

WHY IS BLUE LIGHT HARMFUL?

While some blue light is actually necessary to keep you feeling alert and productive, the levels we’re experiencing today due to time in front of our phones and computers can strain our eyes and disrupt our sleep patterns.

3 WAYS TO PROTECT YOUR VISION FROM HARMFUL BLUE LIGHT

SET LIMITS ON SOCIAL MEDIA USE

The only way to completely avoid blue light is by turning off the phone and computer. In our digital world, that’s next to impossible. The next best option is setting time limits on your phone to give your eyes a break.

  ADJUST YOUR DEVICE SETTINGS

Many phones and reading devices have settings designed to limit blue light exposure. Try “Night Shift” on iPhones, “Night Mode” on Androids, and “Blue Shade” on Kindles. You’ll notice that your device shifts from a bright white background to one that is warmer in tone, blocking much of the harmful blue light.

While this reduces strain on your eyes, everything appears to have an orange tinge-- making editing photos nearly impossible.

  BLUE LIGHT LENSES

If turning off the phone or accepting an orange-tinted reality isn’t in the cards for you, we recommend the Allay Collection from LivelyLume! Our blue light-blocking glasses protect your vision without altering the color of your screen.  The glasses come in a variety of fashionable designs and can be ordered using your specific prescription strength, so you don’t need to choose between eye protection and actually being able to see.

No matter which method you choose, be sure you’re taking the proper steps to protect your eyes from blue light!
